Easy Summer Floats
It's HOT, HOT, HOT outside and that calls for ...
From as little as two ingredients, ice cream floats are the ultimate summer treat and are SO easy to make. Here is a look at some of our favorites...
The simplest form of float is the Soda Float - grab a can of your favorite soda and mix it with vanilla ice cream. Simple and Delicious! Some of our favorites...Coke, Root Beer, Fanta Orange or Grape and Cream Soda...but any soda will do!
Add a twist (of lime) to the simple Coke float and make a Cherry and Lime Coke Float - mix Coke (or Diet Coke), vanilla ice cream, grenadine and lime juice in a glass. Top with whipped cream, maraschino cherries and a lime slice.
Another simple addition will create a nostalgic float that anyone will love, the Shirley Temple Float - vanilla ice cream and lemon-lime soda along with a bit of grenadine is all it takes. Top with a maraschino cherry and you have a pretty pink float perfect for the young and young at heart alike.
If Mama needs a break from the kiddos, make up a Mimosa (or Mom-osa) Float - simply add champagne, OJ (no pulp) and vanilla ice cream to your flutes. Makes for a perfect summer brunch treat or use them at your next shower to cool off your guests. You can even make these for the under 21 crowd, substitute lemon-lime soda or sparkling water for the bubbly.
Don't worry Dads, we didn't forget you...the Guinness Float can be made two ways - start with vanilla or chocolate ice cream (or one of each if you want to go crazy!) and our on the Guinness. Top with chocolate sauce if you went that route and enjoy multilayered foam mustaches!
These are just a few of the many combinations of ice cream floats out there. So grab your ice cream scoop and have fun this summer!
